The Idea of the Learning Festival

The Adult Learners’ Festival is a public awareness-raising campaign to promote adult education.

  • It encourages the public to try and playfully experience Lifelong Learning. The focus is on active learning whereby a positive learning experience is most important.
  • It encourages shared learning and brings people together, regardless of age or background.
  • It helps to reduce competition and invites educational institutions of all sectors to cooperate.
  • It motivates cantons and regions to form interest groups and to promote their region through joint activities.

Adult Learners’ festivals (Adult Learners’ Weeks) have been conducted worldwide
since 1996.

Under the patronage of UNESCO and the Swiss Commission of UNESCO
