International Developement
At an international level, occurring developments have a major impact on European adult education. Switzerland is involved in and affected by these in different ways.
Among the most important recent developments are:
- EU Strategy and Action Plan to promote lifelong learning
- EU educational programs (LLL Programme: Comenius, Erasmus, Grundtvig, Leonardo.)
- co-ordination processes (Bologna, Copenhagen, European Qualification Framework EQR)
- World Conference of CONFINTEA (every 12 years)
At the education policy level, Switzerland is committed to coordinate its strategies with the EU. In some areas - as with educational programs - a broad agreement is sought, in other cases - as in the Copenhagen Process - Switzerland is limited, for the time being, to reflecting on the developments in the rest of Europe.
